The California Department of Education rules that the OUSD has discriminated against Jewish students and their families, as reported in the J Weekly. This came about in part by the lawsuit against the OUSD, where the OJA was the plaintiff, and by the dedicated work of community activists, many who are members of the OJA.

In two letters, OJA officially requests that the California Attorney General and the City of Oakland investigate the open displays of antisemitism and numerous violations of the civil rights of the Oakland Jewish community, based on the incidents that occurred at the November 27th City Council meeting.
